Multi-Sized Pattern for Children: Sizes SM, MD, LG
Skill Level: 2, Easy
Overmittens protect against rain, snow, and wind and are worn over smaller mittens or gloves for extra warmth. This sewing pattern creates an easy-to-sew version of overmittens with options for Cordura fabric for the palm for better gripping, as well as insulated mittens that can be used on their own. These mittens have an outer layer and insulating lining. Adjustable D-ring straps help keep the mittens closed at the wrists to keep out the weather.
Suggested Fabrics:
Outer or Lining Fabric: Lightweight waterproof, waterproof breathable, or water-repellent fabric.
Insulating Lining: Hi-count nylon taffeta or lightweight nylon ripstop when using Thinsulate; or PolarTec; or Pre-quilted fabric.
Fabric Requirements, 45 or 60 fabric for all sizes:
Outer Shell Fabric: 1/2 yard (.46m)
Cordura for palm: 1/8 yard (.11m)
Lining Fabric: 1/2 yard (.46m)
Insulation (optional): 1/2 yard (.46m)
