Sewing Class - Parent-Baby in Montreal
Want to sew during your parental leave, but finding childcare is another story? Here, baby comes with you!
For five weeks, you'll advance your sewing project with an instructor by your side. Meanwhile, your little one can observe, nap, or be rocked.
Have you never used a sewing machine before? Choose the Introduction option. During the first two classes, you'll learn the basics by sewing a zippered pouch. Afterward, you'll choose your next project with the instructor's help.
Do you already know how to use a machine? Arrive with your pattern and materials, and the instructor will guide you from start to finish.
Parents from both options are in the same group. Depending on the complexity of your project and baby's schedule (we know feedings don't follow a class schedule!), you might have a few finishing touches to do at home.

- Introduction option: no experience required.
- Open Project option: you already know how to thread a machine and sew a straight line.
- Audience: one parent and their baby
- Format and location: In-person session at l'Atelier, 5500 Fullum #106, Montreal (Rosemont)
- Duration: 5 sessions of 2.5 hours, once a week (12.5 hours total)
- Group: from 2 to 5 parents, plus babies.
- Language: Bilingual (French and English)
On-site, for babies: two playpens and three Baby Björn bouncers. You are also welcome to bring your own.

Included: the sewing machine and tools at l'Atelier.
With the Introduction option (for beginners), we also include course notes, fabric, the zipper, and the pouch pattern. -
To bring:
- Introduction option: nothing for the first project, we take care of everything.
- Open Project: from the first class, your printed pattern, your fabric, and your notions.

To purchase:
- Introduction option, for your following projects: the pattern, fabric, and notions, starting from the 2nd or 3rd class. This cost is in addition to the course fee and varies depending on the project chosen. You can find everything in the shop, with a 15% discount throughout the session and advice from your instructor.

- During the same session, you can only postpone one course .
- If you cancel your registration before the start of the session, you will be given a full refund.
- If you cancel after the session has started, you will receive a refund of 90% of the amount paid, less fees for courses already taken.

How to choose the right sewing course?
“I don’t know how to use a sewing machine.”
Choose Initiation and free project and check Initiation ($28 of materials for the 1st project).
You will learn the basic operation of the sewing machine starting with the first mandatory project, a zippered pouch, the first 2 weeks. You will then be able to make a free project by choosing it with the help of the teacher.
“I know how to use a sewing machine, but I need help with everything else.”
Choose Initiation and Free Project , do not check Initiation!
From the first class, bring your printed pattern and all the materials you need to complete your project.
* We advise you to start your project on your own, if you are able, to take full advantage of the learning time with your teacher.
“I have to miss a class, what do I do?”
Atelier Espace Fabrik cannot be held responsible if a student is unable to attend their class or if the retakes offered do not fit into their schedule.
If you must miss a class, please notify us by email at info@espacefabrik.com as soon as possible.

You cannot retake a course in place of another student who has missed one of their courses.
“How do I resume my course?”
Contact us at info@espacefabrik.com to receive your course resumption code.
You can then book your course resumption time slot online by visiting the A la carte Courses page.
If you are unable to attend your course resumption, it is your responsibility to notify us 24 hours in advance and reschedule your resumption by starting the procedure again.
Day Camp Cancellation Policy
If possible, please notify us 4 weeks before the start of the camp to allow another young person to participate.
Cancellation of a registration is authorized up to 10 business days before the start of the camp week. However, there is a non-refundable administrative fee of $40. No refund will be given if you cancel your registration less than 10 business days before the start of the reserved week. Registration fees will be refunded only upon presentation of a medical certificate.

“What about my 15-year-old?”
A course for young people or adults?
The Youth classes are mainly attended by children aged 8 to 14 and the atmosphere is often lively and friendly!
If your teenager prefers calm and fiercely protects his bubble, adult classes will welcome him with open arms.
