Job offer - Sewing teacher

We are looking for a teacher who can easily communicate her passion for handmade crafts.

ESSENTIAL TASKS // RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching the basics of sewing and pattern making to children and adults (groups of 2 to 5 students) of all levels
  • Teaching sewing on regular domestic machines and overlockers
  • Advising students on their project and material choices
  • Supporting students in the creation of their personal projects throughout each session

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have in-depth knowledge of sewing, be in the process of obtaining or have a diploma in the field of fashion and/or sewing.
  • Speak enough French AND English to communicate with students
  • Having a good understanding of commercial patterns (printed or PDF), knowing how to make adjustments and modify them

SKILLS

  • Managing small groups of children or adults (2 to 5 people)
  • You must be autonomous and proactive (you will work alone with your students).
  • Knowing how to use an iPad, Google Drive, and share calendars
     (Training offered as needed)
  • Respect the students and their learning pace

HOURLY

  • Part-time: 6 to 10 hours per week.
  • Start date: January 8th. The time slots to be filled, according to your availability, are weekdays between 9:30am and 5:00pm (ideally at the beginning of the week).
  • Private lessons are available upon request; the schedule is flexible and based on your availability.
  • This part-time position is paid as freelance work, by the hour, and the salary is negotiable.
