Job offer - Sewing teacher

We are looking for a teacher who will easily communicate her passion for handmade items.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES // RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching the basics of sewing and cutting to children and adults (group of 2 to 5 students) of all levels
  • Teaching sewing on regular domestic machines and overlockers
  • Advise students in their choice of projects and materials
  • Support students in creating their personal projects throughout each session

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a thorough knowledge of sewing, be in the process of obtaining or have a diploma in the field of fashion and/or sewing.
  • Speak French AND English well enough to communicate with students
  • Have a good knowledge of commercial patterns (printed or PDF), know how to make adjustments and modify them

SKILLS

  • Manage small groups of children or adults (2 to 5 people)
  • Be autonomous and proactive (you will work alone with your students)
  • Know how to use an iPad, Google Drive, and share a calendar
     (training offered as needed)
  • Respect students and their learning pace

HOURLY

  • Part-time: 6 to 12 hours per week.
  • Start date: June 28 to August 30. The time slots to be filled according to your availability are SATURDAYS and/or SUNDAYS between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Possibility of teaching private lessons according to demand, the schedule is flexible and built according to your availability
  • This part-time position is paid as self-employment, hourly, and the pay is questionable.
